I plan two months in the year where I cut out all social media. I use this time to reflect and focus on a project, which brings me to the moment in the year where I have decided to take some time off the internet. I will not be online throughout the whole of May. I have a lot on at the moment and I wish to finish off my college work, refocus my intentions and spend more quality time with my family.
I have a few blogs on the way for June. I will draft them during May in between all the other things going on. Some people have more time than others to write. I wish I was one of them. Working in a school and juggling family life is incredibly time-consuming. Although I have not written as much as I thought I would have in 2023, I have learnt a few skills in the first few months of writing. My intention is to start a writing course after I have finished my coding course.
I have also noticed platforms like Twitter have become more toxic in recent weeks. It’s not my scene. Each day I am finding myself feeling less inclined to use the service and some resentment towards Twitter is setting in. I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but I find Twitter is a hustle culture platform where people are on there to sell things and not make genuine connections. I won’t delete my accounts (just yet). I know there are some people I enjoy engaging with on Twitter though.
As I decided to quit social media, I have started a new Instagram account. I know! I banged on about it not being my thing. However, a talented Instagram user talked me through the process of Instagram and some potential uses. One of them is using it as a living journal for inspirational quotes I have collected over the years. I’m sure I will find a use and community.
Anyway, this is me signing off for May. Dare I say May 4th be with you or is this too geeky?
Take care of yourself.
